Viking Asset

This Viking-Inspired Asset Pack was created using a game-ready workflow, featuring weapons and props modelled in Blender, baked and textured in Substance Painter. Each asset adheres to PBR principles, featuring clean topology and efficient UV mapping, designed to work seamlessly and maintain visual quality.

As someone interested in 3D Art, I wanted to challenge myself with a full asset creation pipeline and produce something I could proudly include in my portfolio. This project allowed me to practice core skills - modelling and texturing - and gain a better understanding of industry-standard workflows.

Modelling

Summary

Viking Asset Pack is a game-ready collection of historically inspired weapons, created as part of my final year project to develop my 3D skills. The pack follows a full PBR workflow, with modelling and UV unwrapping completed in Blender, baking and texturing handled in Substance Painter, and final renders produced in Blender using Eevee and Cycles.

I decided to dive into 3D Art for my final year project, I focused on creating clean, efficient low-poly models while capturing realistic materials detail through smart texturing and baking maps. This project was a way to apply what I’ve learned about 3D asset creation and build a strong portfolio piece that reflects both technical understanding and artistic intent.

  • Created low-poly and high-poly versions of each asset in Blender.

  • Maintained clean topology and silhouette accuracy for game readiness.

  • Unwrapped UVs with efficient use of space and minimal distortion.

Texturing

  • I baked high-to-low poly detail maps directly in Substance Painter.

  • Applied PBR standards using smart materials.

  • Developed consistent surface detail for wood, leather and metal.

Rendering

  • Rendered final assets in Blender using Eevee and Cycles.

  • Set up lighting, materials and camera angles to best showcase asset detail.

  • Composited and presented renders to highlight both form and texture fidelity.
